We are thrilled to welcome you to the beautiful city of Nijmegen! Nijmegen is considered the oldest city in the Netherlands and has a rich cultural history. Its charming city center is full of many cozy shops and restaurants and is nestled along the banks of the river Waal. Nijmegen (or "Nimma" as the locals call it) is known as an old city with a young vibe. For information about what to explore while you are here, see the Into Nijmegen website. You may also visit the Citystore Nijmegen for more tourist information.
The conference will take place on Radboud University Campus.
The conference sessions will take place in Grotiusgebouw (Grotius Building) and Elinor Ostromgebouw (Elinor Ostrom Building).
We kindly ask everyone to think of the environment and travel by train when possible. We of course understand this may not be possible for everyone, for various reasons. In that case we encourage you to donate to carbon offsetting sites. For more information: Top Carbon Offset Providers in 2023.
You can use website 9292 (also as an app) to find information about local trains and buses, including timetables, fares and up-to-date information.
Trains
To organize your train travel you can use www.nsinternational.com (for international trips), and www.ns.nl for local trains. Both are available as phone apps as well. You can also find train schedules on www.9292.nl or the 9292 app.
You can buy tickets online in the NS app or at the vending machines at the train stations. At the train stations, you’ll need a physical or e-ticket to open the gates that lead to the platforms. For more information, see this website.
You can also buy a OV-card. The card itself costs €7.50 and gives you access to all public transport (including busses). You’ll need to load money onto the card before you can use it to pay for busses, trains etc. For more information on the OV-card, visit this website.
Airports
The nearest airports to Nijmegen are Schiphol (Amsterdam) and Eindhoven in the Netherlands, and Dusseldorf and Weeze in Germany; all except Weeze are international airports. Nijmegen is approximately a 90-minute train ride from each of them.
Buses
